DU authorities to sit with student organizations today

    Abrar Hussain: Dhaka University authorities are scheduled to hold a discussion with all student organizations active on the campus today regarding the long-awaited election to the Dhaka University Central Student Union, reports the New Age.

    On September 12, Proctor AKM Golam Rabbani sent a letter to the presidents and general secretaries of all the student organizations and their Dhaka University units inviting them to the meeting.

    The move came as fifteen former students of the university on the same day filed a petition with the High Court for charging Dhaka University vice-chancellor, proctor and treasurer with contempt of court for violating a High Court order asking them to hold the DUCSU polls.

    Proctor Golam Rabbani told New Age on Friday that they would discuss with the student organizations about overall situation to revive DUCSU, dysfunctional for over 27 years since 1990.

    He further said that they already started updating voter list for the DUCSU polls.

    Ruling Awami League-backed student organisation Bangladesh Chhatra League Dhaka University unit general secretary Saddam Hussain hoped that all student organizations would come up for the DUCSU polls.
