2-day biotech fair kicks off in Dhaka

    Abu Hayat Mahmud: A two-day Biotechnology Fair 2018 began at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novo Theater in the capital yesterday. The fair started with 68 stalls of biotech goods and innovations showcased by students from different public-private universities, colleges, schools and other organizations.
    Minister of Science and Technology, Yeafesh Osman, launched the fair in the morning and visited the stalls and inspected the innovations of young scientists and students.
    “The ruling Awami League government is trying to deliver all the biotech innovation to everyone of the country. Bangladesh will be the role model of development in the South Asia. For this reason the prime minister’s office is continuously cooperating in this regard,” he said.
    He also urged all to cooperate in order to develop biotechnology and energy sectors in the country following Einstein’s mass-energy relation.
    Osman said the Science and Technology ministry is not an isolated island, and that every interested organization, department or person could get help from the ministry to introduce anything new and innovative plan.
    During a visit in the biotech stalls, Minister Yeafesh Osman praised over the environmental friendly innovations of the students and young scientists.
    Bangladesh Association of Biotechnology Graduates (BABG) Vice-President Dr Muhammad Sougatul Islam said the BABG has started emerging as a holistic national level professional association of graduate biotechnologists from all the public and private universities in Bangladesh.
