Sayeed Muhammad: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that Awami League leaders and activists are now finding ways to fleeing as they became detached from the people and politically ‘bankrupt’.
The BNP leader made the comment while speaking at opinion exchange meeting with freedom fighters of Jatiyatabadi Muktijoddha Dal, freedom fighters wing of BNP.
Muktijoddha Dal organised the programme at BNP central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka to highlight the role of freedom fighters of battlefield in present political aspects of the country.
According to Fakhrul, the ‘defeat’ of Awami League and its government has already started.
“So they (government) are making their final attempt how to suppress BNP and people, he said mentioning that wholesale filing false cases against the party leaders and activists across the country accusing them of incidents staged by law enforcement agencies,” he said.
Fakhrul said the prime minister is trying to hold ‘so called’ election to cling to power, which he warned the would not accept if held without opposition.
Claiming that the country is passing most crisis moment, he said that the ‘fall’ of the government is ‘imminent’ and this is why it has gone mad getting isolated from people.
Now the unity of the people is the only way to overcome the present crisis, he said, adding, BNP believes that the national unity would be formed soon and the entire nation would free democracy and BNP jailed chairperson Khaleda Zia.
Presided over by Muktijoddha Dal president Ishtiaq Aziz Ulfat, the meeting was addressed, among others, by BNP leaders Hafizuddin Ahmed, Abdus Salam and Muktijoddha Dal leaders.
