Sayeed Muhammad: BNP has alleged that leaders and activists of the party and its front and associate organisations had been arrested indiscriminately across the country in a week under cases filed under special law.
BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi made the allegation at a press briefing at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan, Dhaka yesterday.
According to him, over 400 leaders and activists of the party across the country have been booked in the last few days.
The cases were registered against the party leaders and activists by the government that accused them of subversive activities, he said.
The government, the BNP leader, was suffering from panic and it now gave final bite through arresting and filing false cases against BNP leaders and activists.
He said leaders and activists were being implicated in cases bringing allegation of sabotage, with previously cases against them being revived as well.
Types of allegations (from the party leaders and activists) were same, so there was no doubt that the cases were planned, Rizvi concluded.
