Coal scam: 8 more Petrobangla officials quizzed

     

    Kabir Humayun: The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has interrogated eight more officials of Petrobangla over Barapukuria coal scam.
    ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattachariya told Banglanews that ACC Deputy Director and Investigation Officer Shamsul Alam interrogated them since yesterday morning.
    The eight officials are: Barapukuria Coalmine former managing director Habib Uddin Ahmed, Company Secretary Abul Kashem Prodhania, Manager (exploration) Mosharraf Hossain Sarker, Manager (general services) Masudur Rahman Hawlader, Manager (production management) Ashok Kumar Halder, Manager (maintenance & operation) Arifur Rahman, Manager (design & construction) Jahidul Islam, and Deputy Manager (safety management) Ekramul Huq.
    Earlier, several other officials of the state-owned oil company were interrogated.
    ACC, on August 13, served notice on 32 Petrobangla officials, summoning them to appear in its office on August 16, 28, 29 and 30 for questioning.
    In July, it was revealed that some 142,000 tonnes of coal have been disappeared from the Barapukuria Coalmine in Parbatipur of Dinajpur that forced the power plant to shut down.
