Raj Abrar: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) claimed to have arrested a madrasa teacher from Dhaka’s Airport Railway Station in connection with a kidnapping case, reports The Daily Star.
A team of Rab-3 rescued the student from his captivity in the area yesterday, ASM Shakhawat Hossain Rabiul Islam, Senior Assistant Director of Rab-3, told The Daily Star.
According to the elite force, the arrestee, Mainul Islam, 24, a teacher of a madrasa in Noakhali’s Sonapur area, kidnapped Sameer, 8, one of his former students, in Dhaka.
Mainul had come to Dhaka on Thursday afternoon and kidnapped the boy from a field in front of the boy’s house at Modhubag of Hatorjheel.
The kidnapper left a ransom note for Tk 50 thousand inside the microbus that the boy’s father Kawsar Ahmed drives for livelihood, Rab said.
The arrestee also informed Kawsar about the ransom money over SMS and phone call.
Kawsar sought help from Rab. The elite force members later lured the kidnapper of giving the ransom money at the Airport Railway Station, after which Kawsar and arrested him.
Mainul, who reportedly developed close connections with Samir’s family, kept the boy at a house in Dhaka.
