Bangladesh Bank may sue the Federal Reserve Bank in the near future concerning the theft of 100 million dollars from Bangladesh’s reserve. As the first step of filing a case against the Federal Reserve Bank, Bangladesh has already hired an American attorney, according to reliable sources.

The source further informs, 20 million dollars has already been recovered from Sri-Lanka. However, only 68,000 dollars could be recovered from the 81 million that was transferred to Philippines from the reserve of Bangladesh. Bangladesh Bank has been working to recover the rest of the money as soon as possible. The ‘Blue Ribbons Committee’ – a committee under the Philippines senate that works to investigate the crimes committed by its own government and related agencies – has held several hearings in this matter till now.

From the very beginning, the Federal Reserve Bankhas been claiming to be completely ‘innocent’ in this matter. They claim that they transferred the money following proper procedures. Besides collecting all documents related to the transfer procedure and stop payment orders given to RCBC Bank of Philippines from the Federal Reserve Bank, the case will be filed to recover the money stolen, as well.
