25 cattle markets for Eid in Dhaka

Kabir Humayun: A total of 25 permanent and makeshift markets of sacrificial animals will be arranged in Dhaka Metropolitan area ahead of this year’s Eid-ul-Azha.
DMP Deputy Commissioner (media) Masudur Rahman yesterday said that Dhaka South City Corporation will host 15 such markets and Dhaka North City Corporation the other 10.
Apart from these certain spots, no makeshift cattle markets will be allowed, he said.
The managements of the cattle markets have to operate their business in the demarcated boundary and will not be allowed to spill over adjacent roads.
The ‘Haat’ (makeshift market) authorities have been asked to ensure CCTV surveillance and the markets adequately manned with volunteers to maintain discipline and hassle-free trade.
Police control rooms and security watch towers will be stationed at each market.
The police official added that fake note detectors will be installed to prevent forgery and temporary bank booths will remain operational for immediate transactions.
The Eid-ul-Azha, the Eid that involves sacrificing animals, will be held on August 22.
