Desk Report: The government launched open-market sale (OMS) of key essential items yesterday (Monday) to keep its prices within the buying capacity of the common people during Eid-ul-Azha.
Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB), a state-owned agency, sold essential commodities in different parts of the country, using 187 trucks including 35 in Dhaka, 10 in Chattogram, five each in divisional cities and two each district towns.Sugar, soybean oil, lentils and gram were sold through trucks, according to the TCB.
Soybean oil were sold at Tk 85 per litre while Tk 52 has been fixed for each kilogram of sugar, Tk 50 for lentils and Tk 40 for gram, according to a press release issued by TCB.
A consumer could buy maximum four kgs of sugar, four kgs of lentils and five litres of soybean oil from trucks, dealers or TCB sale centres.
