‘Friends’ has become one of the legends in TV series history, breaking record after record. This time-tested show has a wide fan following till date and it’s a testament to its quality and values that the show is still viewed all over the world. This feel good, humor sponged drama made you grow up with valuable lessons. Here a few things you might have missed in your countless viewing of the seasons:
a Phoebe makes an appearance way before Friends was ever aired; on a show called Mad About You, where she is mistaken for another character, who plays her twin sister in Friends.
a Friends has referred to various popular movies (courtesy of Ross) over the years. Its nerdiness and inner child was revealed through various jokes and appearances of characters like Leia from star wars or Gandalf from the Lord of the Rings, Narnia and Superman.
a Names of the entire cast underwent a transformation when Courtney Cox married David Arquette. The producers paid tribute to this by adding the name ‘Arquette’ to all the names during the credit roll.
a Phoebe’s name is mentioned on the board in Central Perk under the poetry-reading scrawl. She mentions this but at the time is is not shown, a few episodes later it is featured when she performs at the place.
a Friends has had an amazing ensemble of guest stars over its many years, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Bruce Willis just to name a few. Bruce Willis was probably the most noticed cameo as it wasn’t a one off shot, he played Paul, the father of Elizabeth and the love interest of Rachel for many episodes.
a Did you know that the names Ross, Chandler, Phoebe, Monica, Rachael and Joey are not randomly chosen names? They were in fact tributes to the long running dynasty series ‘All My Children”; the show is even referred to several times on friends.
