Dhaka returns to normal

Desk Report: Dhaka returned to normal as a large number of passenger buses started running the city streets after a three-day break due to a violent student protest for road safety, reports Daily Sun.
Buses began to ply city streets on Monday though they were few in number. But on Tuesday bus services were as usual. Police have been deployed on different roads to avoid any further trouble and ensure smooth traffic.
On August 3, transport owners suspended bus services across the country on security grounds. Traffic police were seen checking vehicle papers and licences on roads as traffic week is going on from Sunday.
Educational institutions have retunred to their normal routine. The majority of students were present at schools on Tuesday while business activities restarted in full swing.
A mobile court of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, led by Executive Magistrate Imrul, and five Bangladesh Road and Transport Authority (BRTA) mobile courts have been deployed in the capital to check mismanagement on the streets.
On July 29, two college students — Diya Khanam Mim and Abdul Karim Rajib — were killed in a road accident in Kurmitola area of the capital that flared up a violent student protest across the country. Following the accident, agitated college students took to the streets, torched a Jabel-e-Noor bus and vandalised several others.
Later, demanding road safety, students from all over the country protested on the roads and started checking licences of drivers and vehicles, and at one point the movement turned into anarchy and conflicts.
