The United Kingdom (UK) assured Bangladesh of lifting of its ban imposed on Dhaka-London direct cargo flights soon. A statement of foreign ministry said today British Foreign Minister Philip Hammond gave the assurance to his Bangladesh counterpart AH Mahmood Ali during a telephonic conversation last night.
Bangladesh foreign minister received the phone call from Phillip Hammond at about 9:30pm. They discussed about the overall security measures taken in and around Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport, the statement read. During the talk, Mahmood Ali also informed the UK foreign minister about the “Development Plan” for improving security steps at Dhaka airport.
“ In this regard, the signing deal with two civil aviation security companies – Red Line and Restrata – are on progress,” Ali briefed British minister, adding, “Both Bangladesh and the UK governments are working together to improve the security situation here.”
Lauding the present security steps in the Dhaka airport, the UK foreign minister assured to continue its support by resuming direct cargo flights, the statement added. Hammond hoped that the direct passenger flight operation between Dhaka and London will remain uninterrupted considering the steps taken for airport security improvement and historical relations between the two countries.
