M Humayun Kabir: Actress Quazi Nawshaba Ahmed, who was held Saturday for spreading rumour on Facebook about attacks on student protesters at Jigatola, has been put on a four-day remand in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act.
Metropolitan Magistrate MD Mazhaharul Haque passed the order yesterday after Sub-inspector Bikash Chandra Pal of Uttara Paschim Police Station produced her before the court with a seven-day remand prayer, reports UNB.
The court also rejected the bail petition of Nawshaba as her lawyer sought bail for her.
In a Facebook live at around 4 pm on Saturday, actress Nawshaba claimed that the attackers killed two students and gouged out the eyes of another at Jigatala intersection.
The actress, in her Facebook live, requested people to get united, take to the streets to ‘protect’ the students as they were attacked by Chhatra League activists.
