M Humayun Kabir: Ruling Awami League will accord a mass reception to its party president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today afternoon at the historic Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital.
The reception programme will begin at 3:00pm, said an AL press release, reports The Independent.
Earlier on Sunday, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader made the announcement at a press briefing after holding a joint meeting with the party’s central leaders at the party’s newly-built central office on Bangabandhu Avenue in the city.
“Our astute leader Sheikh Hasina will be accorded a mass reception for attaining the eligibility of Bangladesh to graduate to a developing nation, the launching of Bangabandhu Satellite-I, Sheikh Hasina’s achievement of the Global Women’s Leadership Award and the receiving of the D. Litt degree from Kazi Nazrul University in India,” Quader said. A massive preparation has been taken to make the programme a grand success, said insiders. As part of the preparation, a stage and decoration sub-committee has been formed under the leadership of State Minister for Textiles and Jute Miraza Azam and State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid.
