Prof. Dr. Muhammad Samad, Pro Vice Chancellor, University of Dhaka : Although the education sector allocation in the proposed budget for this fiscal year is Tk 2,500 crore more than that in the previous year, more would have been better. The allocation has increased, which is good news, but not enough. More investment is needed in the sector, especially to improve the quality of higher education.
Education is our resource. The more we can guarantee higher standards of education, the more rapid our economic development will be.

To fulfill the dream of Bangabandhu, the dream that we all envision, the pace of educational development has to be sped up. Investment in education is very lucrative. Why shouldn’t we focus on an investment that will yield stable development? That is why we have to prioritize investing in the education sector.
A balanced distribution of the education budget is needed. It should be made sure that the allocated finances go to the right place and used correctly. That is why the authorities concerned will have to supervise that the allocation is actually used for the development of the education sector.
