Raj Abrar: At least 15 buses of Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) were damaged when a fire erupted at a BRTC bus depot in Khilkhet area of Dhaka in the early hours of yesterday, reports The Daily Star.
Eight of the damaged buses were already out of order, according to Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader, who briefed reporters at the Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) headquarters in Dhaka. The minister also instructed the concerned authorities to conduct a probe into the incident.
The fire reportedly broke out at the depot in Nikunja around 1:30am, said Shafiqul Islam, senior station officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence in Uttara, adding that the cause of the fire is yet to be known.
The incident took place on the ground floor and first floor of the depot, he said.
