MP Badi flies to Saudi to perform Umrah

    Raj Abrar: Awami Lea-gue MP (Cox`s Bazar-4 constituency) Abdur Rahman Badi had reportedly left for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
    A private airline, carrying Badi, his daughter and son-in-law, left Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday night. He will stay there until the Eid-ul-Fitr on June 17, reported Bangladesh Protidin, quoting Badi’s private secretary Helal Uddin.
    MP Badi is allegedly leaving the country sensing trouble amid the ongoing anti-drug operations, as his name popped up repeatedly for his connection with drug syndicates.
    The lawmaker has been accused of being a ‘Godfather’ of drug traffickers but has not yet faced any action. Badi and some of his relatives are reportedly involved in drug trade.Badi reportedly controls the smuggling route for yaba pills from Myanmar, reported BDnews24. One of his brothers-in-law, Akter Kamal, was killed in what the law enforcers said was a gun battle between two groups of yaba traders in Teknaf recently.The Department of Narcotics Control,under the home ministry stated in a report in 2014 that Badi is controlling the principal point of entry through the border for the illegal club-drug yaba, and many others work under him in the illegal trade.
