Tahmeed Taha: Headed by Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, an Appellate Division bench of four justices passed the order yesterday (May 9). On information that an appeal will be filled by the Election Commission (EC) against the HC stay order on the election, they made the hearing delayed to a day, reports banglanews24. Two appeals were set to be heard by the Appellate Division yesterday; one filed by BNP-nominated candidate for GCC polls Md Hasan Uddin Sarker and the other Awami-League nominated candidate Md Jahangir Alam. EC lawyer Md Obaidur Rahman Mostofa told the court yesterday that they will also file an appeal against the same HC order. In this regard the EC was then taking preparation, he added. The High Court, however, on Sunday (May 6) stayed the GCC polls which was slated to be held on May 15.
