Nabin Talukder: It is very challenging for a country like Bangladesh to shelter Rohingya in places like Cox’s Bazar, said Professor Dr. Delwar Hossain in a recent interview. However it is very risky for the Rohinga’s to live in the hilly or mountain areas in Cox’s Bazar as it is monsoon time, due to the heavy rainfall it may cause flood and landslide in the hilly areas that will lead to ‘enormous death’ of Rohingyas. He includes, that we are not that developed and economically stable country yet we have sheltered numerous number of Rohinga’s to our country, by not thinking to avoid them rather sheltered them for the sake of “humanity”.Bangladesh took a huge risk based on humanity grounds though this might affect our economic condition and we might be in crisis. Other nations appreciated Bangladesh for this tremendous courage for assisting them. Someone has to help those homeless initially, so Bangladesh stands for them. He suggests, there is no partial solution regarding this problem and other nations can pressurize Myanmar to take back Rohingyas by isolating it economically. Also UN can play a big role to end this ‘textbook example of ethnic cleansing’ by seizing Myanmar’s membership to UN. And he ended up his comments regarding this issue saying it needs to assure that Rohingyas get justice.
