Sayeed Muhammad: The tight-knit Bangladeshi community in Darwin, Australia has been devastated after three friends were killed in a horrific car crash at Kakadu, only months after others died in a crash at Litchfield National Park. Initial reports from police suggest driver inexperience may have played a role while the crash occurred on the Kakadu Highway at 12.30pm on Saturday, about six kilometres north of Cooinda Lodge, reports ABC News. Three people, said to be two women and one man, who could not be identified immediately, were killed, while the four others in the Toyota Prado were injured. The other four people are now in a stable condition at Royal Darwin Hospital, although three remain in the intensive care unit. A spokesman informed ABC News that three of the injured patients are admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), two of them with amputated limbs, and another with a severe head injury. NT Police Acting Assistant Commissioner Commander Tony Fuller said the accident occurred when the 29-year-old driver lost control on a large, sweeping bend. It came less than a year after the Bangladeshi community lost two other friends in a car crash at Litchfield National Park.
