Nancy Reagan, wife of Ronald Reagan, died at her house in Los Angeles. She was 94.
She was highly influential and stylish and was wife to the 40th President of United States.
Congestive heart failure led to the death of Mrs. Reagan, said Joanne Drake, a spokeswoman.
She was a fierce guardian to Ronald Reagan in his journey from film to White House.
“Without Nancy, there would have been no Governor Reagan, no President Reagan,” said Michael K. Deaver, a longtime aide and close friend of the Reagans who died in 2007.
President Barack Obama said that Nancy has defined the proper role for the first ladies.
After Ronald Reagan’s death, she took up the advocacy for the families that ail from Alzheimer’s disease and acted as an advocate.
Nancy Reagan was also an advocate for her husband’s near-miss ccampaign that led her husband to become the President.
She was in charge of hiring and firing political consultants.
She was a tremendous support for her husband and in public would give him the look of an adorable wife who gave up her career in acting and devoted her life to supporting her husband’s career in politics.
“He was all I had ever wanted in a man, and more,” she wrote in “My Turn: The Memoirs of Nancy Reagan,” published in 1989.
