Violence significantly less than earlier polls: AL

    Expressing its gratitude to all those who voted for it, the ruling Awami League said the frequency of violence is significantly lesser than the elections of the past. AL leader Abdur Rahman was speaking at a press briefing at the party president’s Dhanmondi office in Dhaka yesterday after voting in the 11th general election concluded when he made the claim. He also said that the election was very participatory.
    Holding the election in a peaceful manner was a challenge this time, but it was made possible through the support of the people under a free Election Commission, Rahman added. He also extended his gratitude to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for holding a free and fair election, reported The Daily Star.
