Maj Gen (Retd.) Abdur Rashid Speaks for DOT
Jatiya Party (JaPa) is fielding its own candidates in some constituencies, even after negotiations with the Awami League-led Grand Alliance over seat-sharing ahead of the general elections. It is not a pleasant matter to go against decision of the alliance and it causes an image deficit. JaPa is always in a dither ahead of the elections. Therefore, it is still not clear about the next course of action of JaPa.
Everything has been hunky-dory under the regime of AL-led government. Militancy is present in many countries of the world. However, the militancy could not take root in Bangladesh. The government has declared zero tolerance against militancy. But if we look back on the BNP-Jamaat regime, it evokes painful memories.
Who wants to rake up the painful memories? People will be able to make a right decision if they compare between the two regimes.
Some stray incidents will happen during elections. So far, I have seen nothing unusual ahead of the polls. It is a ploy to enrage people through a propaganda that there is no favorable environment for polls. The opposition party is continuing the propaganda as a ploy.
