A fire broke out in Chattogram city’s Chaktai area yesterday afternoon, and it was brought under control after almost two hours of efforts by the firefighters. However, there was no initial reports casualties in the fire incident. As of 6:30pm, 18 units of Fire Service and Civil Defence were working to douse the flames, reports The Daily Star.
Jasim Uddin, deputy assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, said the thread warehouse belonged to Bijoy and Brothers.
Though losses could not be estimated immediately, the warehouse owner’s son Bijoy Barua said the warehouse had stored about Tk 50 lakh worth of nylon thread inside.
Cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately as well.
