Five pieces of debris believed to be from the missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 were handed over to the Malaysian Transport Minister Anthony Loke yesterday.
The debris were said to be found by local fishermen and members of the public between December 2016 and August this year at three separate locations in Madagascar.
Loke said the debris would be given to the MH370 Safety Investigation Team for analysis.
“We do not entirely shut down any possibility (to resume search for the missing aircraft) should new evidence emerge.
“If anyone has credible evidence, we are open to resuming the search,” the minister told reporters here after receiving the debris.
An aircraft floor panel is one of the five debris that were found and handed over. Others include pieces which had numbers and labels that could still be read.
On March 8 of 2014, the missing flight MH370 along with its 239 passengers had dropped from radar while en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, becoming one of the world’s greatest aviation mysteries.
The deep-sea search mission carried out for almost three years to locate MH370 in the Indian Ocean, covered 120,000 sq km involving Australia, China and Malaysia had not been unfruitful.
