Bangladesh 56th military power in the world

Bangladesh is now the 56th military power among 136 countries in the world. A world famous organization, which collects information on military sector and conducts research, has revealed this information. In the list prepared by the organization, Bangladesh was ranked 57 last year. In the current year, the country has advanced a step upward, according to BBC. In terms of military power, the USA, Russia and China are first, second and third respectively in the world.
The research firm, Global Firepower, which has been working to this end, has published the list. India and Myanmar, two neighbors of Bangladesh, are far ahead of Bangladesh in military power. According to the list prepared by Global Firepower, they have been ranked fourth and 35th respectively.
Such military power is determined not only by military apparatus. It is also based on how diversified the military arsenal of a country is. Geographical location and natural resources have also been taken into consideration in the preparation of the Global Firepower list.
In measuring overall military power, the army, navy and air force have been included. It has been said in the 2018 report of the Global Firepower that the military budget in Bangladesh stands at US$159 crore.
In May this year, the Stockholm International Peace and Research Institute (CIPRI) revealed the military expenditure of different countries in the world. The report noted that military spending in Bangladesh has increased by 123 percent from 2007 to 2017. In 2007, military expenditure in Bangladesh was to the tune of about Tk 6,600 crore. But it stood at Tk 28,800 in 2017.
