The disciplinary committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation on Wednesday banned four footballers of Abahani Limited and Basundhara Kings for several terms for their involvement in an ugly spat during November 23 Federation Cup final, reports New Age.
Basundhara player Sushanta Tripura was suspended for eight matches along with a fine of Tk one lakh while their skipper Towhidul Alam Sabuz received six-match ban and Tk 50,000 fine. Abahani’s Mamun Mia also received six-match ban and Tk 50,000 as fine while striker Nabib Newaj Jibon got two-match ban after all of them got involved in a punch-up over a foul and were sent off.
The BFF also issued show-cause notice on both the clubs for their involvement in the fiasco. Abahani beat Basundhara 3-1 in the match to lift their third successive Federation Cup title.
In other significant decision, the BFF also imposed one year ban on Arambagh Krira Sangha official Rashedul Haque for beating assistant referee Harunur Rashid after their quarter-final against Abahani on November 8.
Arambagh also received a fine of TK five lakh while two of their ball boys handed a lifeban for their involvement in the incident.
BFF disciplinary committee chairman Mejbah Uddin confirmed New Age about the suspension and other decisions made in the meeting.
