Abu Sayeed Khan :
There is a doubt whether the next general election, which will be participatory, will be free from violence. There have been reports of clashes among different political parties and also within their factions as yet. Considering the overall situation, it can be said that there is a possibility of violence taking place during the election slated for December 30. A massive enthusiasm has generated among the BNP leaders, who claim to have been receiving support from the masses ahead of the election. BNP have turned around from the position it went to after boycotting the 2014 national election, and over the war criminals’ trial and destructive movement. But the term mass support is just a political one in this case. BNP has found a new position in politics with its freedom fighter leaders joining hands with Dr Kamal Hossain, Kader Siddiqui, ASM Abdur Rob and Manna. But what needs to be seen now is if it goes back to its previous position by allowing Jamaat to run the polls race using the rice sheaf symbol. If so, it will not bear any fruits in the country’s politics. Based on a translation by Amirul Islam, translated by Sayeed Muhammad. Abu Sayeed Khan is a Senior Journalist.
