Amjad Hossain flown to Bangkok

    Ekushey Padak and National Film Award winning actor-filmmaker Amjad Hossain was flown to Bangkok for better treatment in the wee hours of Wednesday, reports New Age.
    An air ambulance carrying Hossain left Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 1:00am on Wednesday. He is accompanied by his sons Sohel Arman and Sazzad Hossain Dodul. Hossain, who has been kept on life support at Impulse Hospital in the capital for the last ten days, has been admitted to Bumrungrad International Hospital in Bangkok. The filmmaker was admitted to Impulse Hospital after he suffered a stroke on November 18. Prime minister Sheikh Hasina has taken the responsibility for the medical treatment of Amjad Hossain and handed over Tk 42.35 lakh to his family members.
    ‘I am really grateful to the prime minister for everything. I hope my father’s condition will improve after we reach Bumrungrad International Hospital. I ask all to keep him in their prayers,’ Sohel Arman told New Age before leaving for Bangkok.
    Born on 14 August, 1942 in Jamalpur, Amjad Hossain started writing rhymes and poems at an early age. He also wrote short stories, children’s stories and novels. He started his career in film as an actor in 1963. Later, he established himself as a director.
    Hossain has directed many acclaimed films including Golapi Ekhon Trainey (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jonmo Theke Jolchhi (1982), Dui Poysar Alta (1982), Bhat Dey (1984), Golapi Ekhon Dhakay (2006) and Golapi Ekhon Bilatey (2010).
