Reckless driving still continues

Desk Report: Unhealthy competition among bus companies and reckless driving are still continuing leading to frequent road accidents in the capital, reports The daily sun.
Sources said efforts to bring discipline in traffic management are yet to succeed mainly due to the recklessness of drivers and helplessness of police in controlling traffic chaos.
Buses are often seen stopping abruptly, violating traffic rules, in the middle of the streets to pick up and drop passengers, while passengers are still getting on and off moving buses, risking their lives.Reckless driving is continuing although students waged a vigorous countrywide movement against traffic anarchy after an accident on Airport Road in the capital on July 29.Traffic came to an almost halt for about a week across the country due to the movement.Traffic police officials said bus drivers, most of whom drive vehicles with invalid licences and route permits, often obstruct traffic movement.
Many vehicles having no valid fitness certificates were taken off the streets by their owners due to strict traffic monitoring for the last few weeks. Sources said traffic police filed cases against buses for violating traffic rules.
