BNP demands Khaleda’s treatment in specialized hospital

    Raj Abrar: Bangladesh Nationalist Party yesterday demanded better treatment of its jailed, ‘ailing’ chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia at any specialized private hospital.
    BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said at a news conference at the party central office that they had stated about one specialized hospital for Khaleda’s proper treatment but there were many others in the country. He added that Khaleda Zia and the party did not want her treatment at a government hospital, citing that the incumbent government ‘cannot be trusted’.
    The secretary general made the remarks when asked whether BNP still stuck to its previous demand for Khaleda’s treatment at United Hospital in Dhaka.
    Fakhrul said they would send a letter to the home minister for Khaleda’s proper treatment, reported the New Age.
    On February 8, Khaleda was sentenced to five years in jail by a special Dhaka judge’s court in a corruption on February 8 and was sent to the old Dhaka central jail.
