Bus driver remanded, helper bailed over Natore road crash

    Sayeed Muhammad: A Natore court has sent the driver of ‘Challenger Paribahan’ bus Shamim Hossain to one-day remand, granting bail to helper Abdus Samad over the death of 15 people in a road crash.
    Senior Judicial Magistrate Sultan Mahmud passed the order after Sub-inspector Tariqul Islam of Banpara Highway Police, also the investigation officer of the case, produced them before the court yesterday, reports the Asian Age.
    Earlier on August 30, the court sent them to jail in the case filed over the casualties in Lalpur upazila of the district and fixed September 5 for hearing the remand petition.
    At least 15 others were also injured when the Bogura-bound bus of ‘Challenger Paribahan’ heading from Pabna hit a human-hauler carrying 15 passengers in Lalpur upazila on August 25.
    A case was filed against seven people over the fatal road crash.
