26 jaywalkers fined at Farmgate

    Kabir Humayun: A mobile court of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) fined dozens of jaywalkers at the police box point of Farmgate in Dhaka.
    Around 26 people were fined by Executive Magistrate Sarah Sadia Taznin at the busiest VIP road of the capital since yesterday morning, reports The Daily Star.
    All the traffic rule violators have been fined Tk 50 each for not using over-bridge, 20 underage and student pedestrians have been released upon bonds, the executive magistrate said.
    Sarah Sadia added that three motor cycle passengers were charged Tk 200 each for not wearing helmets.
    The drive against jaywalkers was conducted at the police box point of Farmgate with a 45 minutes gap for the movement of prime minister.
    BRTA also conducted similar operation at Mohakhali area since the morning, said a BRTA official.
