M Humayun Kabir: The International Crimes Tribunal will deliver its verdict today in a case filed against five Patuakhali men for their alleged involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.
A three-member bench of tribunal headed by Justice Md Shahinur Islam fixed the date yesterday.
The accused are Ishak Shikdar, Solaiman Mridha, Abdus Sattar Peda, Abdul Goni Hawladar and Awal alias Moulvi Abdul Awal. All of them are hailing from different villages in sadar upazila.
On May 30, the tribunal kept the verdict pending after concluding the law point arguments from both sides.
Arrest warrant was issued against the five war criminals on September 23 in 2015 and they were arrested later.
On Mar 8 in 2017, charges were framed against them on six counts of war crimes including murder, genocide, rape, torture, arson attack and vandalism.
