Desk Report: Bus counters at Kalyanpur and Gabtoli saw huge crowd Friday, on the fourth day of Eid ticket sale. Those who were yet to secure trip to their ancestral homes thronged as it was the weekend. However, the bus operators on Thursday said all tickets for four days before Eid were sold out, reports Asian Age.
Advance ticket aspirants were found swamped adjacent to Kalyanpur Khalek Pump where Soniya and Binimoy-two bus operators- are stationed. The two counters only sell AC tickets. “We had some seats left for August 17 and 18 and these are now on sale,” a ticket master Ariful Islam of a counter said.
Rejaul Islam was standing in a long queue in front of the counter. “I couldn’t manage any ticket online. Therefore I’ve come and I’m not sure whether will get one or not,” Rezaul Islam, who was seeking a ticket to Rajshahi, said. Another, Rabiul Islam was found at Kalyanpur Shyamoli bus counter.
He desired to travel on August 20. However, due to ticket scarcity, the Kustia- Jhenaidah route passenger confirmed his journey on August 18 night. “Today’s rush is kind of sudden and we are trying our best to fix the passengers’ demand,” Shyamoli counter manager Alamgir Hosen said.
Meanwhile, Gabtoli Hanif Enterprise counter had huge pressure of Eid-holidaymakers. Many were found trying their luck to other counters as they failed to purchase tickets on desired travel date with Hanif Paribahan.
General Manager of Hanif Enterprise Mosarraf Hosen said they had sold out all the advance tickets especially to the northern districts. They only had some tickets left for the other routes of the country.
