Kabir Humayun: Transport owners have remained bus movement on all routes of Mymensingh and Sylhet suspended since Thursday morning citing security reasons.
Mymensingh District Transport Owners’ Association on Wednesday night took decision to refrain from operating buses to Dhaka, reports Observer. Bikash Sarker, secretary of bus department under Transport Owners’ Association, said “The agitating students vandalised buses during their ongoing demonstration which they found in front of them. So, we stooped plying Dhaka-bound buses lack of security.”The buses may resume operations in the afternoon if the situation returns to normal, said Bikash. Besides, the Dhaka-bound bus services from Sylhet were suspended yesterday due to the ongoing demonstrations staged by the students in the capital city. The bus services, however, were restricted to Brahmanbaria and Habiganj since the morning, reports Banglanews24.com.Sylhet Transport Workers’ Union President Selim Ahmed Falik said that they came up with the decision as per a ‘direction from Dhaka’, at the night.
All the Dhaka-bound buses will remain suspended until further announcement, he added.Several vehicles were reported vandalized on Wednesday amid the ongoing protests of the students, over deaths of two college students in a road crash on Dhaka Airport Road.
