Tahmeed Taha: Ahead of the city corporation elections on Tuesday a total of 16 platoons of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members have been deployed in Khulna city.Returning Officer of Khulna City Corporation Md Younus Ali said to avert any untoward incident, the border guards were deployed at different parts of the city in the morning, reports The Daily Star. To facilitate fair and free polls BNP demanded army deployment in the city earlier on May 10. On the other hand, HT Imam, Political Advisor of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on May 9 that the activity and behavior of KCC Returning Officer Yunus was biased towards a particular party.The scheduled date of Khulna city election is May 15. In the elections, A total of five mayor candidates, 38 reserved-seat female councilor candidates and 148 general councilor and are competing.
