My initial thoughts were that this cow is headed to a slaughterhouse or somewhere to be disposed of, because the the typical narrative when it comes to sad stories about dairy animals.
But, this isn’t that story. This cow didn’t find herself in a slaughterhouse, trembling before meeting her maker.
This dairy cow, named Emma, was loaded onto a trailer and driven to her new home at the Kuhrettung Rhein-Berg Sanctuary in Germany. The dairy farm that was formerly her home had recently closed down, and she was slated for the chopping block at the local slaughterhouse before her rescuers intervened. Her fears would eventually fade away, as she made her way into the spacious new pasture she would begin to call home.
