Paul McCartney is to appear in a documentary series made for virtual reality devices.
The six-part series was filmed in McCartney’s private home studio as the legendary musician recounts memories and anecdotes behind various tracks.
PURE McCartney VR will delve into the backstories of five of the artist’s songs: ‘Dance Tonight’, ‘Coming Up’, ‘My Valentine’, ‘Mull of Kintyre’ ‘Early Days’.The VR shoot allows fans to get a 360 view of the star’s studio either by using a headset or a dedicated online video player. The project was filmed by Tony Kaye, best known for directing American History X and numerous music videos including ’Runaway Train’ by Soul Asylum and ‘Dani California’ by Red Hot Chili Peppers.
The singer has previously released a VR film of his 2014 concert at San Francisco’s Candlestick Park. It also includes digitally remastered audio mixed in Dolby Atmos (the first time original Paul McCartney tracks have been remixed in the Dolby format). Geoff Emerickseved as producer and soundscape architect on the series; and Cliff Plumer, Lucas Wilson and Doug Allenstein exec produced.
