Seems as though Dhaka is turning in the new food hub of the east; following the likes of KFC, Baskin Robbins and such, guess who’s coming to our little town, none other than Krispy Kremes Doughnuts. Krispy Kreme doughnuts is launching its very own store in Bangladesh come the 5th of May. Now if you call yourself a foodie, a restaurant aficionado or a doughnut freak you’ve most probably heard of Krispy Kremes Doughnuts and their stores that branch across the world. The franchise opened their doors on July 13, 1937 when Vernon Rudolph bought a secret yeast-raised doughnut recipe from a New Orleans French chef, rented a building and began selling Krispy Kreme doughnuts to local grocery stores. The delicious scent of cooking doughnuts drifted into the streets, and passers-by stopped to ask if they could buy hot doughnuts. So, he cut a hole in an outside wall and started selling hot Original Glazed doughnuts directly to customers on the sidewalk.
In 2015 Krispy Kreme announced the opening of its 1000th store in Kansas City, KS. This little shop around the corner has expanded into over 21 international markets. While times had changed a lot the company’s signature Original Glazed Doughnut stayed the same.
And we’re keeping our fingers crossed that it will be the same here in Dhaka. Stay tuned to this page for when we bring you delicious news of the grand opening and what went on there!
