“Bleh, I wish I could be a model, then life would be so easy”- said every girl at one point of their lives. Well, not so fast because fancy parties, travelling business class, and a grand lifestyle is not all there is to modeling. Maybe for the A-grade supermodels like the Kardashians, Jenners, and Gigi Hadid, life is enjoyable and great, but for the lesser known models who are still climbing a spiky ladder to stardom, life is plain torture.
Two annonymous New York based models have opened an Instagram account called S*** Model Management to portray all the bitter truths behind the pretty faces of the modeling industry. Although the account was created a mere two weeks back, it has already managed to gain 22,000 followers and counting.
The photos uploaded by the account perfectly showcase the gruesome reality of the life of a model. We got to know that a model’s apartment is a far cry from a modern apartment and more like a prison cell with no breathing space. Apparently, modeling is so tough, that newcomers always run to the nearest booth to make a phone call to their mommies and cry to go home.
In a recent interview with Fashionista.com, the models explained their thoughts and reason behind their initiative.
A person going by the codename “H” explained how models have to go through a daily dose of rejection. And this rejection does not happen due to a lack of talent, humor or intelligence but because the model in question is not “pretty enough”. Because the model does not meet the beauty standards the casting director wants for a particular day.
The other person, who is responsible for the creation of this account, going by codename “S”, exposed the fact that no one really listens or gives a damn about a model who is not someone popular.
A week before the Instagram account was launched, the creators felt that they wanted to share their hurdles with the world, with the hopes that models across the world can relate to them and know that they are not alone.
