The war between Marvel and DC has spilled over to the cinematic universe in the span of the last decade. Marvel and DC have taken two very different routes when it comes to taking over the big screen. DC tasted huge amounts of success with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Trilogy, Man of Steel and Batman vs Superman. Over the years, under the guidance of Nolan and Zack Snyder, the DC cinematic universe like its comics has taken a more serious mode, exploring political and dark topics. In the end, movies such as the ones in The Dark Knight Trilogy and The Watchmen really make the audience agonize themselves about serious issues like politics and global annihilation. The movies usually have dark overtones integrated in them and DC has been delivering on that front consistently.
Marvel follows a lighter path with bits and pieces of comedy instilled in their movies. I mean sure, the last Avengers movie was funny, but did make a lasting effect on you? And that, is what Marvel lacks. They make movies that are fun to go see; you can have a laugh and go “Whoah” at a few stunts but to this day, there has not been one Marvel movie, with the exception of the X-men that has left a lasting impact on me.
