When we think of someone who is super smart, we somehow tend to imagine them in labcoats or fancy outfits for different conferences and seminars. However, that is actually not the case in real life. Studies show that smart people actually own about fifty to hundred pieces of the same outfit. Sounds odd? Well, it is actually pretty simple!
No really, it is simple: You know what they say, “simple is genius”. If you are like every other person out there then you probably battle with the thought “what to wear” every single morning. However, if you always have a go to look handy, then you probably do not even need to worry about that. See, this is why everyone is not a genius.
The easy choice: People have to make so many decisions every day starting from when to wake up, what to eat, to who to annoy. Do we really have to make even more decisions while picking outfits? Isn’t it easier if we just….well, wear the same thing every day?
Uniforms, the not-so-annoying kind: Okay. Do not freak. No one is saying that you have to wear that exact same t-shirt every day because that would be quite unhygienic. All I am saying is that, it is nice to have a signature look. For instance, ever notice how Mark Zuckerberg always wears that grey t-shirt?
Dream for the cheapskate: Let’s face it- we all have a little stinginess inside of us. We do not like to spend too much money on clothes but we like to own many. We also wish our closets were always neat, and that we did not have to go shopping so many times to buy new outfits. How do we make our wishes come true? We stock up on fifty of the same outfit when there is a sale going on! It is bound to save you a lot of money. Do the math right now!
It apparently increases your confidence and focus: Suppose you have this one outfit that suits you really well. It is the perfect color and it also suits your body type. Now imagine having hundreds of the same outfit. This way, you never have to go through the pain of wearing something that does not fit. You will be happy knowing that you are wearing something comfortable and that you are looking good every day. Hence, you do not have to worry about your clothing and you have more time to concentrate on your work.
The one thing that will never betray us: Life is unpredictable. Bad stuff happens and things do not turn out the way we want them to. And that often leaves us sad. However, it is nice to know that your outfit is always going to be the same and predictable!
