Head of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Suranjit Sengupta has commented that the conviction of the two ministers has caused irreparable harm to the government. He shared his thoughts on the matter with the press at the media center of the National Parliament House on Wednesday.
He said, “No one is above justice. Everyone must stay within the limits of morality. The judicial system must also follow the path of justice. Just because someone has power, does not mean they can do whatever they want with it. The one with power must be very careful while taking decisions.”
When asked if the convicted ministers should resign he answered, “I do not want to get involved in this debate. However, ethically, everyone is bound to answer to the state and society. We all have to remember that injustice, immorality and crime, none of the three are acceptable to the people.”
