32 women police officers have been honored with the prestigious Bangladesh Women Police Award. The awards will be presented to the recipients at a function held at Bashundhara Convention Center.
The awards were divided in 5 categories. They are: Bangladesh Police Women Leadership Award, Excellence in Act, Medal of Courage, Community Service and Peace-keeping Mission Special Honor Award. The recipients will also receive 10,000 taka and a certificate in addition to the crest.
Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Mili Biswas stated, “As human beings our position in challenging professions has never been clearer. Leading the parade of Police Week, investigating crime, solving a case, controlling traffic – in each sphere of police work women have contributed equally as men. I hope this award will encourage women to become more and more efficient in police work.
The initiative to start the tradition of this award was taken by the Inspector General of Police, A K M Shahidul Hoque. The award is an inspiration towards women police officers and a salute to appreciate their bravery.
