CID has found proof of rape from Sohagi Jahan Tonu’s clothes and her body. Comilla District Police sent the evidence over to the Detective Branch’s Headquarters in Dhaka on Monday. The case was transferred to the DB police for a more thorough investigation. The DB police will conduct forensic, fingerprint and DNA tests as soon as possible.
The Comilla District Police have been using all their resources to investigate Tonu’s murder. They have visited the crime scene multiple times. They have taken Tonu’s family’s testimonies as well and kept a connection with them. Call lists of 4 SIMs, including Tonu’s have been acquired.
District Police Super Shah Md. Abid Hossain stated, “We are anticipating positive news. For the sake of the investigation, nothing more can be said right now.” Comilla is still in uproar and the people of the district are constantly protesting Tonu’s murder.
