There was a time when hanging out with friends meant eating chanachur together on the rooftop or having intense discussions over a cup of tea at the local tea stall. However, the kids today have a bit more money in their pockets, as they often do various jobs like tutoring or working for a newspaper like yours truly. Hence, they opt out of the “tong er dokaan” and go to cafes that were designed to be the ideal hangout place for teenagers and young-adults alike. Yours truly is here to talk about one such cafe which also happens to be her favorite place to go with friends.
Nostalgic Cafe, located at Satmasjid Raod above the Dhanmondi branch of Standard Chartered Bank, is an epitome of a hangout place. Its artsy decor and sun basked space gives it the perfect ambience. It has a pretty comfortable seating arrangement, with their comfy chairs, couches, and even round mattresses adorned with fluffy cushions just in case you are very tired and want to lie down. It also houses two separate spaces for the smokers and the non-smokers.
Now let us get in to their menu, because after all, you all are probably going to go there to fill your tummies (it is okay if food trumps friend). They serve a wide range of food, starting from typical Indian cuisine like kebabs and tandoori chicken, to Chinese, Italian, and other continental foods. Yours truly is a BIG fan of their white sauce pasta and their pepper-steak. The pasta is the perfect blend of creaminess and deliciousness, and they add a generous amount of chicken unlike other places. The steaks are cooked perfectly as per your order (rare/medium rare/well done). They are tender and have the right amount of juiciness.
The price of the food is also very reasonable. For 300-600 Tk, you can get enough mouth watering delicacies to fill your tummy. The waiters are also very well mannered and are fast to serve you your orders. All in all, you must go there the next time you are planning to chill with your buddies.
