Humans have always known to sit and hunt in groups but what led to this? What influenced humans to grow as a society and stay in tight knit communities? We know today, that at around 5,000BC trading posts began to sprout up. This trend has continued till date, agriculture is yet another factor.
For the past few years, talk has been going on of the possibility of religion being used to keep humanity together and grow as a civilization. The University of British Columbia got together a team to work out the myths and facts behind this testimony.
The team consisted of anthropologists and psychologists decided to delve into this issue how the belief in God’s-especially those that concerned themselves with moral behavior-may have contributed to extensive teamwork amongst humanity.
The test was conducted in eight different societies around the globe to see how belief contributed to growth. The test was conducted on two groups with religious beliefs of morality seeking Gods. The subjects were put through various tests to see if they worked together or separately when having the belief that a God was watching over them.
The test came out positive, i.e. when the people believed that they had to answer to a higher power, they worked as a group and helped each other.
