BSS: One of the founders of Bangladesh’s leading cultural organization Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigoshthi’s Golam Mohammad Idu died of old-age complications at a private hospital in the capital on Friday afternoon. He was 87.
On December 17, he was taken to Health and Hope Hospital in the capital’s Panthapath area. In a message of condolence, Udichi President Prof Badiur Rahman and General Secretary Amit Ranjan Dey expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Idu and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Idu was elected as an executive member of the first convening committee of Udichi as the organization was founded on October 29, 1968. Earlier, he also served as president of Udichi Shilpigosthi between 2008 and 2012. He actively participated in all democratic movements of the nation including the anti-British movement, the great Liberation War.
