UNB: With Bangladesh’s 2-1 margin T20I series victory against hosts West Indies, Shakib Al Hasan, Tamim Iqbal and Liton Kumar Das moved up their places in the ICC Men’s T20I Player Rankings, which was updated on Monday. Captain Shakib (103 runs; 19-60-24) and experienced opener Tamim (95 runs; 0-74-21) were top run-getters for Bangladesh in the series, and they moved up eight spots to 45 and six places to 39 on the table for batsmen respectively. The hero of the series decider, opening batsman Liton, certainly did a great job as he slammed a 32-ball 61 to set up Bangladesh’s win, and saw a jump of 22 spots on the table to 71st place. It also gave Liton 351 rating points, the best in his career so far. Besides, Mahmudullah Riyad, who did not go on to get a big score but hit quick scores [35 off 27b; 13* off 10b; 32* off 20b] in the three games, also moved up by three places to number 36 jointly with Pakistan captain Sarfraz Ahmed.
The Tigers ended their month-long overseas campaign against West Indies on Monday with a 19-run win (DLS method) in the third T20I at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida in the USA.
The visitors lost the first game by seven wickets in a rain-interrupted affair and made a comeback with a 12-run win in the second game.
Bangladesh made a stunning turnaround on the West Indies tour, clinching the T20I series 2-1 on Monday after a same margin victory in the ODI series, though they started their tour campaign with 0-2 loss in the Test series.
